Global Launch: Indian-Produced iPhone 16 Hits the International Market

September 12, 2024 – In a recent social media announcement, India’s Minister of Electronics and Information Technology Ashwini Vaishnaw revealed that Apple’s latest iPhone 16 is now being manufactured in Indian factories for global distribution.

Vaishnaw proudly stated that Prime Minister Modi’s “Make in India” initiative is driving the creation of iconic products for the world. Apple has been expanding its production footprint in India over the years, a strategy that not only helps the company secure a safer position in the global supply chain but also diversifies its manufacturing risks.

To attract global manufacturers, the Indian government has offered various policy support and economic incentives, including reduced import taxes on components required for mobile phone production. This has encouraged more companies to set up factories in India.

Reports indicate that Apple plans to manufacture over 50 million iPhones annually in India. Achieving this goal could further cement Apple’s leading position in the global market and establish India as a global hub for smartphone production.

Moreover, this move is expected to generate a significant number of job opportunities in India and boost local economic development. Despite previous concerns about the quality rate of iPhones produced in India, Foxconn Chairman Liu Yangwei has clarified the rumors, stating that the quality rate at Indian factories is much higher than the 50% reported by media and is within Apple’s acceptable range.
