January 25, 2025 – Ming-Chi Kuo, an analyst at TF International Securities, made a prediction today on X platform regarding Apple’s upcoming iPhone 17 series, slated for release in the latter half of 2025. According to Kuo, the size of the Dynamic Island on the new iPhones will remain almost unchanged.
This forecast contradicts previous predictions made by analyst Jeff Pu, who had repeatedly stated that Apple would adopt a “metalens” for the Face ID on the iPhone 17 Pro, resulting in a “significant reduction” of the Dynamic Island.

It’s worth noting that Apple first introduced the Dynamic Island feature on the iPhone 14 Pro series in 2022, and it has undergone minimal changes since then.
Despite their differing views on the size of the Dynamic Island, both analysts agree that Apple will unveil the “iPhone 17 Air” (tentative and unofficial name) this year, featuring a brand-new design language. Notably, the rear camera unit is expected to adopt a horizontal design.
