Apple’s iOS 18 to Usher in Enhanced Home Screen Customization for iPhone Users

March 25, 2024 – In a recent development, sources privy to the matter have revealed that Apple’s upcoming iOS 18 update will empower iPhone users with enhanced control over the arrangement of app icons on their home screens.

According to sources cited by MacRumors, users will enjoy greater freedom in arranging their icons with iOS 18. However, to maintain a certain level of consistency, the app icons will still be locked into an invisible grid system on the home screen. Specifically, the iOS 18 update is expected to introduce features that allow for the creation of spaces, rows, and columns between app icons.

This news aligns with previous reports from Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman, who suggested that the iPhone would gain a “more customizable” home screen starting with iOS 18. Since the release of iOS 16, iPhone users have had the ability to customize their lock screens, and it appears that similar customization options will be extended to the home screen in iOS 18.

Sources indicate that this update will introduce additional customization options for the home screen, potentially marking the biggest change to the home screen in several years. As per usual, Apple is expected to unveil iOS 18 at its annual Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) in June.

Beyond the enhanced home screen customization, other features and changes anticipated in iOS 18 include new AI capabilities for Siri and various apps, RCS support in the Messages app to improve messaging between iPhone and Android devices, design modifications, and more. Stay tuned for further updates as we approach the WWDC 2024.
