February 29, 2024 – At Apple’s annual shareholder meeting, CEO Tim Cook revealed that numerous products released by the tech giant in the past are powered by artificial intelligence (AI).
Examples of AI-driven features in Apple products include hand tracking in Vision Pro, heart rate alerts in Apple Watch, and the crash detection feature in iPhone. Cook emphasized the AI capabilities of MacBooks equipped with Apple’s proprietary chips, stating that they are the most suitable computers for AI work currently available in the market.
“All Macs powered by Apple silicon are incredibly capable AI machines,” said Cook. “In fact, there’s no better computer for AI work than a Mac right now.”
Continuing his tradition, Cook teased the audience on Wednesday, promising that Apple will share “new ways to push the boundaries of AIGC” later this year. He described it as another “technology that has the potential to redefine the future.”
As part of the shareholder meeting’s formalities, the attendees voted to approve the reelection of Apple’s board of directors and executive compensation. However, they rejected five shareholder proposals, including one that called for Apple to disclose its use of AI in business operations and its adherence to ethical standards. Apple opposed the disclosure, arguing that it could reveal sensitive information about the company’s competitive strategies in the field of artificial intelligence.
