May 18, 2023 – Google recently unveiled a groundbreaking addition to Google Colaboratory (Colab), introducing a brand-new AI coding feature. This innovative functionality is powered by a cutting-edge “Codey” model, boasting support for over 20 programming languages, including Go, Google’s own SQL dialect, Java, JavaScript, Python, and TypeScript. Colab users will now have access to real-time code autocompletion, code generation, and interactive sessions with a programming-specific chatbot, all designed to enhance development efficiency and code quality.
Regarded as a direct challenge to Microsoft’s Github Copilot, Google’s move aims to provide a more streamlined and convenient experience for deep learning applications and Python developers alike.
