March 5, 2025 – Sam Altman, founder and CEO of OpenAI, announced early this morning that GPT-4.5 is likely to be rolled out to ChatGPT premium subscribers in the coming days.
In addition, Altman introduced a new payment model that will transition the current $20 monthly subscription service to a credit-based system. This new model will enable users to utilize credits across various products such as Deep Research, o1, GPT-4.5, and Sora.
It’s worth noting that GPT-4.5 is priced significantly higher than GPT-4o. For input, GPT-4.5 costs 75permilliontokens,whereasGPT−4ocostsonly2.5. When it comes to output, GPT-4.5 is priced at 150permilliontokens,comparedtoGPT−4o′s10. This translates to GPT-4.5 having an input cost 30 times higher and an output cost 15 times higher than GPT-4o.
