Xiaomi’s First Shoe Washing Machine Surpasses Crowdfunding Target by 20 Times

November 6, 2026 – Xiaomi’s first dedicated shoe-washing machine has quickly become a standout product on Xiaomi Youpin, with its crowdfunding campaign surpassing 20 times its initial target shortly after launch.

The Mijia Shoe Washing Machine 3kg began crowdfunding on November 2 at 799 yuan, compared with a suggested retail price of 1,299 yuan. Shipments are scheduled to begin from November 10.

The device is built around a triple-brush system and high-speed impeller rotation that creates 3D water flow, targeting shoe uppers, soles and inner linings. Xiaomi says the machine achieves a cleaning ratio of 0.9, which it positions as sufficient for everyday mud, grass stains and sweat marks.

It offers eight wash programs, including standard, strong, quick, antibacterial, multi-use, rinse-plus-spin, spin-only and drum cleaning. A 20-minute quick-wash mode allows users to start a cycle without removing shoelaces, and a 24-hour scheduling function lets households run it while they are away.

Hygiene features are also emphasized. According to Xiaomi’s test data, the machine can remove 99 percent of Trichophyton rubrum, 99.8 percent of Escherichia coli and 99.6 percent of Staphylococcus aureus, while inhibiting E. coli and S. aureus by 99.99 percent. A drum self-cleaning program is included to reduce residue and secondary contamination.

The 3kg model occupies about 0.18 square meters and is designed for sneakers, casual shoes, children’s shoes, canvas shoes, board shoes and sports slippers. Xiaomi says it can handle two to four pairs per cycle, but actual capacity depends heavily on shoe size. For adult shoes between sizes 31 and 43, the practical limit is one pair per load, and the maximum supported shoe size is 43.

Leather shoes, premium footwear, shoes with special decorations and items not suitable for water washing are not recommended.

The strong early demand highlights how Xiaomi is entering a growing but still fragmented small-appliance category. Shoe-washing machines have attracted more attention in recent years as consumers look for ways to reduce manual chores, but adoption has been limited by concerns over cleaning quality, shoe wear and machine maintenance. Xiaomi’s Mijia branding and aggressive crowdfunding pricing are likely to bring the category into broader mainstream discussion, even if real-world performance will depend on how well the machine handles different materials, shoe shapes and long-term durability.
