September 14, 2026 – After many years, Apple has once again provided positive recognition of a Huawei product in its official public content, breaking the longstanding convention of the two tech giants rarely engaging in direct technical comparisons.
Recently, a wave of new product launches by various smartphone and digital device manufacturers has sparked a massive online trend among tech enthusiasts to compare the technological capabilities of different brands. In response, Apple’s official website recently published a new, dedicated research report on Apple Watch heart rate accuracy, explicitly listing the Huawei WATCH 5 as a core reference device. The report’s conclusions clearly state that while the Apple Watch demonstrated superior monitoring values in overall sports scenarios, the difference in accuracy between the two devices did not reach statistical significance.
Industry insiders are well aware that in the past, Apple rarely included devices from domestic manufacturers in its core benchmarking lists when publishing performance and user experience comparisons. This time, not only did Apple directly use the Huawei watch as a primary comparison target, but it also publicly acknowledged that there is no fundamental gap in their data performance. Such an approach is highly unusual in Apple’s official public communications.
Notably, this marks the first time in seven years that Apple has officially listed Huawei as a direct benchmark in a public setting. During the iPhone 11 launch event in 2019, Apple first included Huawei in its flagship chip performance comparison alongside competitors like Samsung and Google.

The Huawei WATCH 5, selected by Apple for this comparison, was released in June of last year. As the world’s first HarmonyOS AI smartwatch featuring NearLink technology, it is equipped with an exclusive X-TAP smart sensing window and supports high-speed 5A NearLink connectivity, with a starting price of 2,699 RMB.
Beyond standard heart rate monitoring, the watch offers several specialized features tailored to the health needs of domestic users, including rapid fingertip blood oxygen measurement, hypertension risk warnings, ECG acquisition, and emotional health recognition.
Apple’s objective and factual research conclusions, without deliberately disparaging competitors, indirectly confirm that Huawei’s technological accumulation in wearable health monitoring has firmly reached the top global tier. Even an industry leader like Apple can no longer ignore the tangible strength of Huawei’s products.
