September 3, 2026 – Han Boxiao, General Manager of vivo’s X Series product line, recently revealed the imaging specifications for the standard vivo X500. The device is equipped with the same main camera sensor as the Pro models, marking a leapfrog upgrade in its imaging capabilities.
Han stated that last year’s X300 Pro was widely acclaimed as the “ZEISS Imaging King.” This time, vivo has brought that exact same main camera sensor to the standard version. He noted that many users can immediately feel the imaging improvements upon opening the camera, which is closely tied to the sensor’s outstanding quality.
The newly adopted LYTIA-828 sensor, jointly customized by Blue River Imaging and Sony, features a massive 1/1.28-inch sensor size, making it the largest main camera ever used in the X Series standard edition. Paired with ZEISS gimbal-level stabilization and achieving a professional CIPA 5.5 stabilization rating, this massive sensor ensures ample light intake, while the gimbal-level stabilization guarantees image steadiness, making it a main camera born specifically for video recording.
Looking back at previous generations, the X300 standard version featured an exclusive 200-megapixel HPB main camera, demonstrating that vivo has never been stingy with the imaging configuration of its standard models. This year, they have gone a step further by directly downgrading the more powerful main camera setup from the X300 Pro to the X500 standard edition.
Beyond the main camera, the telephoto lens is equally “Pro.” The standard X500 is equipped with the same Sony LYTIA-610 sensor found in the X500 Pro APO telephoto lens. Han mentioned that vivo’s tuning of the OV64B sensor was superior in the past, and this new 64-megapixel sensor will recreate that glory. Its stabilization rating has also been upgraded to CIPA 5.5, supporting 4K 120fps slow-motion video recording.
Additionally, the device is the only one in the industry that supports the compact and portable “Lipstick 200” telephoto lens attachment, turning the standard edition into a concert photography powerhouse. Even from the highest seats in the venue, users can enjoy a VIP-level shooting experience.
With both the main and telephoto cameras being “Pro,” this is the ZEISS imaging strength of the X500 standard edition. The philosophy of “the first choice for photography and the only choice for video” applies equally to this standard model.
Based on the product details revealed by Han, vivo will simultaneously launch three models: the standard version, the Pro version, and the Pro Max version. All new devices will be officially released in September.
