ByteDance Unveils Major AI Organizational Overhaul: Feishu, Doubao and Volcano Engine Teams Consolidate

July 30, 2026 – ByteDance has unveiled a sweeping organizational overhaul centered on its AI business, a strategic move to deepen synergy across its Feishu, Doubao and Volcano Engine divisions in enterprise productivity scenarios.

Under the restructuring plan, the Feishu product team will be fully integrated into the existing Doubao product line to form a new unified Doubao product organization, which will be led by Zhao Qi, the current head of Doubao. Feishu chief Xie Xin will report directly to Zhao Qi following the integration.

On the go-to-market (GTM) front covering marketing, sales and customer service, ByteDance is merging Feishu’s entire GTM operation with the Volcano Engine team to establish a brand-new B2B GTM entity named the “Creativity Service Platform”. This new department, helmed by Volcano Engine head Tan Dai, will take full charge of end-to-end market expansion, sales execution and customer support for ByteDance’s full portfolio of MaaS, SaaS and other cloud services. Feishu sales lead Lin Chan and Feishu strategy & marketing head Shi Zhijun will both report to Tan Dai under the new structure.

ByteDance confirmed that all existing Feishu products and services will remain fully operational after the reshuffle, while the two teams will roll out far deeper collaborative features for productivity scenarios. The Doubao Enterprise Edition, co-developed with Feishu’s product expertise, is already in closed beta testing among a select group of Feishu customers. The enterprise-grade AI assistant natively integrates with the entire Feishu ecosystem, enabling seamless access to documents, spreadsheets, meetings and group chats without extra deployment, alongside robust enterprise data isolation, permission control and security audit capabilities.

This organizational realignment marks a major elevation of ByteDance’s AI-to-B strategic priority. As of June 2026, Doubao’s large model has surpassed 180 trillion in daily token calls, Volcano Engine holds a prominent position in China’s public cloud MaaS market, and over 90% of Feishu’s new customers in Q2 2026 have purchased Feishu AI add-ons. Calculated by average consumption in July, ByteDance’s large model business has hit an annual recurring revenue (ARR) of 4 billion USD, exceeding the combined ARR of all other domestic large model players. At the FORCE Original Power Conference in June, ByteDance CEO Liang Rubo emphasized that “climbing the peak of AI is ByteDance’s top priority at present”, noting that the company is concentrating resources on advancing model capabilities and positioning Volcano Engine’s MaaS business as one of its core foundational operations.
