May 27, 2026 – Xiaomi’s automotive expansion is on track, with the company targeting late 2027 as the launch window for its first overseas markets, according to Lu Weibing, who addressed the topic during the firm’s Q1 earnings call.
Speaking to investors, Lu confirmed that the international rollout is progressing exactly as outlined during the company’s earlier investor day. The game plan is clear: developed markets come first, followed by emerging economies. Xiaomi will also prioritize premium and upper-mid segments before moving into the mass market, and right-hand-drive regions will be served ahead of left-hand-drive ones.

The executive emphasized that the preparation work is intense. Vehicles are heavily regulated products, requiring deep compliance with local laws, extensive product localization, and the construction of dealer and retail networks from the ground up. So far, everything is moving according to schedule, with further updates to follow as milestones are reached.
On the domestic front, Xiaomi delivered more than 80,000 vehicles in Q1. A brief dip in shipments — caused by the phase-out of an older model and the transition to a new one — has already reversed. April deliveries climbed back above 30,000 units, and the company expects a sharp uptick in Q2.
The new-generation SU7, which launched in March, has already locked in over 80,000 orders as of May 6. Meanwhile, the YU7 lineup, now 10 months into its sales cycle, has cumulatively reached 232,000 deliveries.
Looking ahead, Xiaomi plans to introduce a brand-new mid-to-large-size vehicle in the second half of the year. The company expressed strong confidence in hitting its full-year delivery target.
