March 30, 2026 – During an appearance on the “Lex Fridman” video podcast, NVIDIA CEO Jensen Huang dropped a bombshell that left many in the tech world stunned: despite a partnership spanning over three decades, NVIDIA and TSMC have never signed a formal contract.
Huang highlighted TSMC’s two defining strengths: its relentless pursuit of cutting-edge technology and its unwavering customer-centric approach. He emphasized that finding a company capable of balancing technological leadership with customer focus on a global scale is extremely rare.

The NVIDIA chief revealed that their collaboration, which has grown to encompass business volumes ranging from tens of billions to hundreds of billions of dollars, has thrived for over 30 years without any written agreements. Instead, the relationship has been built on profound mutual trust and seamless cooperation.
Through three decades of industry evolution, NVIDIA has transformed from a small startup with just a few dozen employees to a global tech powerhouse, growing its revenue from $100 million to a market valuation in the trillions. This remarkable journey, Huang noted, has been achieved without a single piece of paper binding the two companies together – yet their partnership remains unbreakable.
“Without TSMC, there would be no NVIDIA as we know it today,” Huang stated emphatically, underscoring the critical role the semiconductor giant has played in his company’s success.
