December 30, 2025 – According to industry insiders cited by Yonhap News Agency, Samsung Electronics Co., Ltd. has achieved a significant breakthrough in expanding its automotive component portfolio by supplying advanced in-vehicle processors for electric vehicles (EVs) manufactured by BMW Group.
The sources revealed that Samsung has provided the Exynos Auto V720 chip for BMW’s new iX3 all-electric SUV, establishing itself as a key semiconductor partner in the German automaker’s Software-Defined Vehicle (SDV) initiative.

The new iX3, a mid-size electric SUV built on BMW’s cutting-edge Neue Klasse (New Class) pure electric platform, made its debut in September this year and is slated to hit the South Korean market in the second half of 2026.
The insiders further added that Samsung is anticipated to extend its chip supply to other next-generation pure EVs as well as traditional internal combustion engine models from BMW.
It is reported that Samsung has specific plans to outfit BMW’s upcoming next-generation 7 Series with the Exynos Auto V920 processor.
The Exynos Auto series chips are designed to power automotive in-vehicle infotainment (IVI) systems, enabling real-time navigation updates and the transmission of high-quality multimedia content.
Notably, Samsung Electronics had previously supplied Exynos series processors to Audi and Volkswagen in 2019 and 2021, respectively.
