October 28, 2025 – Amazon is potentially on the verge of launching its most extensive round of layoffs since 2023.
On Monday, Reuters cited insiders as saying that Amazon might start cutting as many as 30,000 corporate positions starting from Tuesday local time. This wave of layoffs is expected to impact multiple departments, including human resources, devices and services, as well as operations.

This would mark Amazon’s largest staff reduction since the end of 2022 when it laid off 27,000 employees.
In recent years, Amazon has carried out smaller – scale layoffs across different business units. For instance, in January this year, the company streamlined some positions in its Communications and Sustainability departments.
Earlier, CNBC reported that Amazon CEO Andy Jassy had mentioned in a memo that as the company continues to advance the application of AI agents, the demand for white – collar jobs would gradually decline.
