Apple’s Indian Odyssey: 45 Suppliers Fuel 350,000 Jobs as 1 in 5 iPhones Roll Out of India

September 30, 2025 – Apple has significantly bolstered its supply chain presence in India, with the number of its local partners surging to nearly 45, while generating approximately 350,000 jobs across the country.

The expanded network now includes major Indian conglomerates like Tata Electronics and Wipro PARI, alongside over 20 small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs). Together, these suppliers have established a comprehensive ecosystem covering component manufacturing and ancillary services, directly creating 120,000 positions and supporting an additional 230,000 indirect roles.

Industry analysts attribute Apple’s rapid manufacturing growth in India to two key factors: the government’s Production-Linked Incentive (PLI) scheme for smartphones, launched in 2020, and shifting geopolitical dynamics. These drivers have enabled India to emerge as a critical hub in Apple’s global strategy.

Notably, one-fifth of all iPhones produced worldwide—approximately 20%—are now assembled in India. Between fiscal years 2021 and 2025, Apple’s Indian operations manufactured devices worth 45billion,with7634 billion) of this output exported internationally. This surge has catapulted smartphones from India’s 167th-ranked export category in 2014–15 to the top spot, underscoring the nation’s rising prominence as a global electronics export powerhouse.
