Samsung Electronics Reports 5.8% QoQ Revenue Decline in Q2 2025

July 31, 2025 – Samsung Electronics has just unveiled its official financial results for the second quarter of 2025. During the reporting period, the company’s consolidated revenue stood at 74.6 trillion Korean won, marking a 5.8% decline from the previous quarter and a marginal 0.7% increase year-on-year. Meanwhile, its operating profit was 4.7 trillion Korean won, a significant 29.9% drop compared to the preceding quarter.

In a broad perspective, the Device Solutions (DS) business segment witnessed an 11% sequential increase in revenue, thanks to the growth in sales of server memory and foundry services. However, its operating profit decreased by 800 billion Korean won. On the other hand, the Device eXperience (DX) business segment experienced an 11% decline in revenue and a 1.4 trillion Korean won reduction in operating profit. This was attributed to the weakening impact of new product launches and intensified competition in the TV market.

Here’s a breakdown by individual business units:

DS (Device Solutions, Semiconductors): Generated a consolidated revenue of 27.9 trillion Korean won and an operating profit of 400 billion Korean won.

SDC (Samsung Display): Recorded a consolidated revenue of 6.4 trillion Korean won and an operating profit of 500 billion Korean won.

MX (Mobile eXperience) and Networks: Achieved a consolidated revenue of 29.2 trillion Korean won and an operating profit of 3.1 trillion Korean won.

VD (Visual Display, TVs and Monitors) and digital appliances: Posted a consolidated revenue of 14.1 trillion Korean won and an operating profit of 200 billion Korean won.

Harman: Reported a consolidated revenue of 3.8 trillion Korean won and an operating profit of 500 billion Korean won.

In its official announcement, Samsung Electronics confirmed that the MX division is set to launch innovative products such as XR headsets and Trifold three-foldable devices within the year, aiming to expand the Galaxy ecosystem. The System LSI chip design unit under DS will focus on enhancing the competitiveness of Exynos chips, with the goal of incorporating them into next year’s flagship smartphone lineup. Additionally, the foundry division under DS will commence mass production of 2nm process mobile SoCs in the second half of the year.
