June 23, 2025 – In a recent edition of his “Power On” newsletter released yesterday, Bloomberg journalist Mark Gurman revealed that Apple is planning to reduce the size of the Dynamic Island on its upcoming iPhone models set to launch next year. Additionally, Gurman anticipates that by 2027, Apple will unveil a groundbreaking 20th-anniversary edition iPhone.
As per Gurman’s earlier insights, this commemorative iPhone model is expected to feature curved glass edges, ultra-slim bezels, and a truly hole-free display.

Last month, Wayne Ma, a reporter from The Information, reported that the iPhone 18 Pro, slated for next year, will incorporate an under-display Face ID system, retaining only a small punch-hole in the top-left corner of the screen for the front-facing camera, thus eliminating the pill-shaped cutout. This has led to some confusion regarding Gurman’s statement about “a smaller Dynamic Island still being present next year,” as the exact details remain unclear.
Based on the current information circulating, it seems plausible that the first “true all-screen” iPhone, equipped with both under-display Face ID and an under-display front camera, could make its debut in 2027.
It’s worth noting that Apple’s progression towards a full-screen design has been a gradual one. Back in 2017, the iPhone X marked a significant shift from Touch ID and wide bezels to Face ID and a notched display. By 2022, the iPhone 14 Pro further evolved this design with the introduction of the Dynamic Island.
