June 6, 2025 – Amazon announced on the 4th of this month its intention to invest approximately $10 billion in North Carolina, USA, to bolster its data center infrastructure in the region. This expansion is aimed at providing robust support for artificial intelligence (AI) and cloud computing technologies.
The tech giant stated that the investment is projected to generate at least 500 new high-skilled job opportunities. These roles will span various domains, including data center engineering, network expertise, engineering operations management, and cybersecurity. Additionally, the move is expected to create thousands of other positions within the broader AWS data center supply chain.

Beyond job creation, Amazon has pledged to offer a range of initiatives to the North Carolina community. These include educational and skills training programs, scholarships, and the establishment of a $150,000 community fund specifically for Richmond County.
Josh Stein, the Governor of North Carolina, expressed his enthusiasm about the development, saying, “AI is reshaping how we work and innovate. I’m thrilled that North Carolina continues to be a magnet for top-tier tech companies like Amazon. This investment by Amazon is one of the largest in our state’s history and will bring hundreds of well-paying jobs to Richmond County, along with significant economic growth.”
