Samsung Unveils Low-Power Color E-Paper Display

June 12, 2024 – At the ongoing Infocomm 2024 exhibition in Las Vegas, Samsung has unveiled its colorful electronic paper display for the first time. Currently in its prototype phase, this product incorporates colorful e-ink screen technology, primarily designed for advertising purposes.

Ideal for various settings such as shopping malls, offices, public spaces, restaurants, and retail stores, the color e-paper display offers a versatile platform for showcasing advertisements, menus, product information, and more.

The 32-inch model, designated as EMDX, boasts ultra-low power consumption while exhibiting a QHD resolution capable of rendering 60,000 colors. Remarkably slender at just 17.9 millimeters thick and featherlight at 2.9 kilograms (excluding the battery), this display embodies portability and efficiency.

Samsung Electronics emphasizes that this electronic paper display consumes virtually no power while displaying content, drawing energy only during content updates. Remarkably, products with a power consumption below 0.005W can be labeled as 0-watt consumption, according to the International Electrotechnical Commission’s (IEC) IEC62301 standard.

This technologically advanced display comes equipped with 8GB of storage space, Bluetooth and Wi-Fi connectivity, and two USB Type-C ports for power supply and data transfer. Sporting a Frame Deco design akin to Samsung’s The Frame TV, it offers easy customization and adaptability. Additionally, it is compatible with the 200 x 200 VESA wall mount, allowing for flexible installation options such as ceiling, desktop, or wall mounting.

To enhance user experience and accessibility, Samsung plans to introduce a dedicated smartphone application. This app will enable users to seamlessly manage and display content on the screen. Furthermore, remote real-time management will be possible through Samsung’s VTX solution, adding another layer of convenience and control.
