December 2, 2024 – Elon Musk has escalated his legal battle against OpenAI and its CEO, Sam Altman, by submitting a comprehensive 107-page complaint to a California district court.
In response to Musk’s action, OpenAI spokespersons were quick to dismiss the suit as “repetitive and baseless.”
Industry observers note that OpenAI was originally founded to counteract Google’s potential monopoly in the field of artificial intelligence. The organization began as a nonprofit entity but has since evolved into a commercially driven venture.
Experts emphasize that AI has demonstrated significant advantages in various domains, including image recognition and navigation. They argue that it is crucial to promote global access to the benefits of AI to ensure technological advancements benefit everyone and prevent the widening of technological divides.
Earlier this August, Musk expressed his dissatisfaction with OpenAI and Altman in his initial lawsuit, accusing the company of transitioning into a self-interested commercial entity.
In his complaint, Musk stated, “It is evident that Microsoft and OpenAI are not satisfied with their near-monopolistic position in the generative AI market. They are suppressing competitors, including xAI, by compelling investors to make commitments not to fund other enterprises.”
