Huawei Dominates 5G Competitiveness for Six Years: Excels in All Five Key Areas

July 05, 2024 – For the sixth consecutive year, Huawei has been named the leader in the 2024 “5G RAN Competitiveness Evaluation Report” released by the globally renowned consulting firm, GlobalData. The report comprehensively evaluated RAN equipment providers across five key dimensions: AAU, RRU, millimeter wave, BBU, and energy efficiency, and Huawei emerged as the frontrunner in all categories.

In terms of AAU, the report highlights Huawei’s leadership in product portfolio diversity, module output power, and compactness. Notably, Huawei’s FDD Massive MIMO solution, which supports single, dual, and triple frequency bands, stands out due to its compact size and ease of deployment. This solution has enhanced capacity by 10 times and coverage by 10dB compared to 4T4R systems and has been deployed in over 100 networks worldwide, making it the only commercially available FDD Massive MIMO solution at scale.

Regarding RRU, Huawei’s performance is deemed superior in terms of module output power, supported frequency bands, and compactness. The company’s triple-band 8T product solution, leveraging true broadband technology, integrates 1.8GHz, 2.1GHz, and 2.6GHz frequencies. When combined with FDD Beamforming technology, it achieves a three-fold increase in spectral efficiency and a 7dB improvement in coverage while reducing energy consumption by 30% compared to 4T4R systems.

In the millimeter wave category, Huawei offers the most comprehensive and high-performance product solutions. Through intelligent beam management and high-low frequency coordination, Huawei has achieved a breakthrough in the industry by enabling continuous coverage in NLOS (Non-Line of Sight) scenarios, delivering a peak experience of 10Gbps.

As for BBU, the report underscores Huawei’s industry-leading position in terms of capacity, type, and stream count. Huawei’s BBU also boasts market-leading capabilities in narrowband IoT, providing robust support for the smooth evolution of operator networks towards the future.

Finally, in terms of energy efficiency, Huawei’s continuous innovation in energy-saving technologies is ahead of the industry. The company supports “0 bit 0 watt” at the device, site, and network levels, demonstrating its commitment to energy efficiency and sustainability in 5G networks.
