Apple Designates Original iPhone SE as Vintage Product

December 06, 2023 – Apple Inc. has officially added the original iPhone SE to its list of vintage products today. This smartphone, which was first introduced in March 2016, has now seen seven years since its launch.

The first-generation iPhone SE remained on sale until September 2018, making it five years since it was last available, aligning with Apple’s criteria for categorizing products as vintage. According to Apple’s guidelines, products become vintage after five years of discontinuation and are considered obsolete after seven years.

Vintage products may not necessarily be eligible for repairs through Apple or Apple Authorized Service Providers, but if spare parts are still available, Apple will continue to offer repair services.

Apple continues to advance its iPhone SE series, which currently stands as the only iPhone lineup equipped with the Touch ID fingerprint sensor. So far, this series has seen the release of three generations of products, with the iPhone SE 3 being introduced in March 2022.

In addition to this, Apple also included the second-generation 12.9-inch iPad Pro and the special edition Mickey Solo3 Wireless headphones in its list of vintage products today, while the Powerbeats 2 and Solo2 wireless headphones have been categorized as discontinued.
