Amazon Makes Its Move: Officially Enters Online Car Sales Business

December 11, 2024 – Amazon today announced its official entry into the online car sales business, launching Amazon Autos in select regions of the United States.

Amazon Autos, an e-commerce initiative, enables customers to search, order, and purchase new cars, trucks, and SUVs from dealerships. The retail giant has kicked off this new venture with Hyundai in 48 cities across the U.S., including Atlanta, Boston, Chicago, Los Angeles, and New York.

Looking ahead, Amazon revealed plans to introduce more manufacturers, brand models, and additional features to more cities in the coming year.

According to Amazon’s press release, Amazon Autos offers customers a streamlined end-to-end online experience for purchasing their next vehicle. Customers can browse and search for available vehicles at local dealerships by brand, model, trim, color, and features. They can also receive instant valuations and trade-in prices for their existing vehicles, view transparent upfront pricing, secure financing or pay in full, complete the checkout process online, and schedule a pick-up time at the dealership.
