December 18, 2024 – According to a recent report by Reuters, Stellantis has allocated a new mass-market vehicle model to one of its Italian factories, as outlined in a long-term production plan submitted to the Italian government this week.
Sources indicate that the new model could be manufactured at either the Pomigliano d’Arco plant, located near Naples in southern Italy, or the Cassino factory south of Rome. The plan also reportedly includes an increase in the production of hybrid vehicles by Stellantis in Italy, as the output of pure electric vehicles is anticipated to remain small over the next few years.
Jean-Philippe Imparato, the head of Stellantis’ European operations, stated on Tuesday local time that the Italian production bases will remain active and, due to the introduction of the new model, production capacity will increase from 2026 onwards.
