Discount Promotion Launched for Tesla Cybertruck Amid Sales Decline

January 17, 2025 – Tesla has rolled out discount promotions for its highly anticipated Cybertruck electric pickup, aiming to counter a recent decline in sales of the model, as reported by Business Insider. According to Tesla’s official US website, customers purchasing a brand-new Cybertruck can now enjoy discounts of up to 1,600.Additionally,theautomakerisofferingalimitednumberofdemoCybertruckswithjustafewhundredmilesontheodometer,boastingdiscountsof2,600.

In an unusual move, Tesla has reassigned some employees from the Cybertruck production line at its Austin factory to the Model Y line. The Model Y, currently Tesla’s best-selling vehicle, has seen a surge in demand, while the Cybertruck, Tesla’s first all-new passenger car since the Model Y’s debut in 2020, has been under the spotlight since its market launch in 2023.

Although Tesla hasn’t released specific sales figures for the Cybertruck, the company revealed that it sold 85,000 “other models” in 2024, including the Cybertruck, Model X, and Model S. Prior to its release, the Cybertruck garnered an impressive 2 million pre-orders, according to online tracking data published by Electrek. Tesla claims that the unconventional off-road vehicle is now profitable, and industry data indicates it still outsells competitors like the Ford F-150 Lightning.

Despite launching numerous incentive programs at the end of 2024, Tesla couldn’t avoid its first annual sales decline that year. The company is now focusing on achieving Elon Musk’s target of a 20-30% sales increase in 2025 and recently unveiled a revamped Model Y in Asia.

The Cybertruck faced multiple recalls in 2024 due to issues such as malfunctioning oversized wipers and a risk of the accelerator pedal getting stuck in the full-throttle position. These quality concerns have undoubtedly impacted consumer purchasing confidence.

The discount promotion could help remove one of the biggest barriers for Tesla enthusiasts looking to buy the truck: price. When Musk unveiled the Cybertruck in 2019, he announced a starting price of 39,900andatop−tierversionaround70,000.
