YouTubers Shatter Expectations with 2-Meter Tall Functional iPhone 15 Pro Max Replica

September 09, 2024 – Matthew Perkins and Arun Maini, creators of the YouTube channels DIY Perks and MrWhoseTheBoss, have achieved a remarkable feat by constructing a colossal, fully functional iPhone 15 Pro Max, which has been recognized by the Guinness Book of World Records. This enormous device stands at an impressive 6.74 feet (approximately 2.05 meters) in height and weighs a staggering 440 pounds (roughly 199.58 kilograms), closely replicating the design and capabilities of the iPhone.

To create the enormous touchscreen, Perkins repurposed an LG Signature 88-inch OLED television, converting it into an interactive panel. He achieved this by commissioning a custom-made touch foil that matched the screen size and attaching it using UV epoxy resin.

The challenge then shifted to integrating oversized replicas of iPhone components into a sturdy frame. Perkins crafted this frame from aluminum, incorporating a cross-shaped support structure for stability. Notably, to mimic the iPhone 15 Pro Max’s telephoto lens, he incorporated high-end cameras like the Canon EOS R5 and Sony RX10 Mark 4. The frame was also designed to be permanently mounted on a similarly sized phone holder, allowing for rotation.

Due to Apple’s iOS being proprietary, Perkins and Maini opted for Android, specifically Bliss OS, to emulate the iPhone’s homescreen. They even managed to install the classic game Flappy Bird.

Remarkably, this massive iPhone isn’t just for show. Maini and his friends took it to the streets of London to demonstrate its functionality, including Tap-to-Pay transactions, email sending, and video calls.

The total cost of this gigantic phone project amounted to $70,000.
