Google Pixel 8a Leaked in Google Fi Ad Ahead of Google I/O Conference

April 07, 2024 – The upcoming Google I/O developer conference has sparked renewed interest in Google’s next mid-range smartphone, the Pixel 8a, following the success of its predecessor, the Pixel 7a.

Recently, the Pixel 8a unexpectedly made an appearance in a Google Fi advertisement, exciting tech enthusiasts and industry watchers. Google Fi, a mobile virtual network operator (MVNO) that provides mobile communication services through partnerships with various carriers, inadvertently revealed the unreleased device in one of its promos.

The ad showcased the Pixel 8a in two distinct colors: a creamy white and a deep blue, the latter not seen in the Pixel 8’s color palette, indicating that the phone featured was indeed the unreleased Pixel 8a. Beyond the new color options, the phone sports a matte finish on its back cover, contrasting with the glossy design of the Pixel 8. Furthermore, the rounded corners and camera cutout positions differ from the existing Pixel lineup.

Previous leaks from tech insider Yogesh Brar revealed some notable specifications for the Pixel 8a. The upcoming device is rumored to feature a 4500mAh battery with a 27W charging capability. Powering the Pixel 8a will be the Tensor G3 chipset, paired with a vibrant 6.1-inch FHD+ 120Hz OLED display. The rear camera system, consisting of a 64-megapixel primary lens and a 13-megapixel secondary lens, remains unchanged from last year’s model.

As the countdown to the Google I/O conference continues, anticipation builds for the official unveiling of the Pixel 8a and its full specifications.
