March 18, 2025 – In a recent research note, Tim Long, an analyst at Barclays Bank in the UK, has predicted that the starting price of Apple’s first foldable iPhone will reach 2,299,significantlysurpassingthecurrenthighest−pricediPhone16ProMax,whichretailsat1,199.
Long attributes the high cost of the foldable iPhone to complex hinge technology, flexible displays, and titanium alloy materials. He believes that the steep price may dampen sales. However, Ming-Chi Kuo, another analyst, holds a contrasting view. Kuo suggests that if the device is free of creases and meets performance benchmarks, demand could still be robust.
Previous reports by Kuo have revealed that the foldable iPhone will feature a titanium alloy body and a stainless steel hinge, with Face ID being omitted to make way for a Touch ID side button, thereby saving internal space.

In terms of display, the phone will sport a 7.8-inch internal screen and a 5.5-inch external screen, with a folded thickness of 9 to 9.5 millimeters and an unfolded thickness of 4.5 to 4.8 millimeters. The adoption of titanium alloy for the body and a combination of stainless steel and titanium alloy for the hinge ensures both durability and lightness.
The foldable iPhone will come equipped with dual rear cameras and a front camera, with Face ID being replaced by a Touch ID side button to optimize internal space utilization.
Positioned as a “true AI-driven phone,” the large screen design of this foldable iPhone is expected to enhance multitasking capabilities and AI experiences. Kuo believes that, given the device meets quality expectations, it has the potential to become a “must-have” item among Apple’s loyal user base.
