August 03, 2024 – Apple CEO Tim Cook announced on Thursday that iOS 18, iPadOS 18, and macOS 15 Sequoia systems will integrate OpenAI’s ChatGPT by the end of 2024. This announcement comes after the company’s previous revelation at the Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) 2024 in June, where they stated that ChatGPT would be coming to iPhone, iPad, and Mac devices before the end of the year.
During the earnings call, Cook confirmed that the integration of ChatGPT is still progressing smoothly as of the first week of August. When asked about the specific timeline for the rollout, Cook simply stated, “ChatGPT integration will happen before the end of this year.”
At WWDC 2024, Apple also declared that Siri, the voice assistant in iOS 18, would be integrated with ChatGPT to assist users in various AI tasks. Siri will now have the ability to determine if a query could benefit from being forwarded to ChatGPT and will ask for permission to share the information. This enhanced functionality will allow users to ask questions related to text, documents, photos, and PDFs.
The integration of ChatGPT into Apple’s ecosystem marks a significant step forward in the company’s AI capabilities, enhancing the user experience and broadening the scope of tasks that can be accomplished with Siri’s assistance.
