Apple Set to Introduce High Refresh Rate Screens in iPhone 17 Series, Differentiating Standard and Pro Versions

April 18, 2024 – Apple is finally set to introduce high refresh rate screens as a standard feature in the upcoming iPhone 17 series, according to recent leaks from multiple sources. However, Apple is still employing its strategic differentiation by maintaining a distinct gap between the standard and Pro versions through size variations.

The latest intelligence from Ross Young, CEO of Display Supply Chain Consultants (DSCC), reveals that the supply chain has indicated the screen size of the iPhone 17 Plus will be less than 6.7 inches. This strategic move comes after strong sales performance of the Plus models in recent generations, particularly due to their large screens and extended battery life.

By incorporating high refresh rate screens in the standard versions, Apple aims to create a more “perfect” product for the majority of consumers. This upgrade addresses a long-standing demand and closes the gap in user experience between the standard and Pro models.

Without the premium price tag of the Pro Max, the Plus model, despite having slightly inferior camera and performance features, offers a comparable experience, especially for users who do not require extreme photography capabilities.

Meanwhile, the Pro series will retain its exclusive advantages, such as the costly titanium metal frame and ultra-narrow screen bezels, providing consumers with a choice based on their specific needs and budgets.
