Microsoft to Debut New Windows 11 Devices Powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon X Elite

April 09, 2024 – Microsoft is set to unleash brand-new Windows 11 devices on May 20th, headlined by the Surface Pro 10 and Surface Laptop 6. These two devices will be powered by the formidable Qualcomm Snapdragon X Elite processor.

Internal documents from Microsoft reveal a strong confidence in the Qualcomm chip, suggesting that it outperforms the M3 MacBook Air in terms of performance. Benchmarking tests conducted by Geekbench back up this claim, with the Snapdragon X Elite scoring an impressive 15300 in multi-core performance, a 21% improvement over the Apple M3’s score of 12154.

In comparison to Intel’s offering, the Snapdragon X Elite demonstrates remarkable efficiency. In single-threaded performance, it is 54% faster than the Core Ultra 7 155H at the same power consumption level, or it can achieve equivalent performance while reducing power consumption by 65%. Similarly, in multi-threaded tasks, the Snapdragon chip is 52% more powerful or uses 60% less power for comparable performance.

The Snapdragon X Elite’s impressive performance is powered by its advanced 4nm process technology. Its Oryon CPU boasts 12 high-performance cores clocked at 3.8GHz, with the ability to boost up to 4.3GHz in dual-core enhancement mode.

With such robust performance credentials, the upcoming Microsoft Surface series promises to be a highly anticipated line of products.
