October 24, 2024 – Pichai Naripthaphan, the Thai Minister of Commerce, revealed to Bloomberg on the 21st of this month that Jensen Huang, CEO of NVIDIA, is scheduled to visit Bangkok, the capital of Thailand, in December. During this visit, Huang is expected to announce the company’s investment plans in the country.
While Pichai Naripthaphan did not disclose specific details or the size of NVIDIA’s investment, he expressed optimism that the move could potentially attract similar investments from other foreign capital, thus bringing more overseas funding to Thailand.

NVIDIA’s future investments in Thailand are seen as a step towards strengthening the company’s presence in the Southeast Asian region, particularly in the field of artificial intelligence (AI). The country, with a population of over 70 million, offers significant opportunities for the tech giant to expand its operations.
In recent years, NVIDIA has announced multiple AI-focused investments in Southeast Asia. This includes collaborations with Malaysian company Yangtze Power to build a data center equipped with H100 GPUs, establishing an AI development center in partnership with Indonesia’s second-largest mobile telecommunications company, and working with Vietnam’s FPT to create an AI factory.
Furthermore, on September 30th, Google, another technology leader, announced a $1 billion investment to construct data centers in two locations in Thailand, further highlighting the growing importance of the region in the global technology landscape.
