September 03, 2024 – According to a blog post published by testingcatalog on September 2nd, OpenAI is set to expand its ChatGPT application by adding new voices through reverse engineering. The upcoming update promises to deliver more natural and expressive voice readings.
Evidence suggests that OpenAI intends to introduce eight fresh voices, each identified by a distinctive code name, and these may be gradually rolled out in the future.
Intriguingly, these new voices are designed to express non-verbal sounds, such as animal noises, more naturally, enhancing the app’s expressiveness.
Furthermore, these voices are capable of conveying or emphasizing specific emotions when reading bold or italicized text, adding another layer of depth to the readings. However, it’s essential to note that these are still TTS (Text-To-Speech) voices and may not be related to the advanced voice modes currently in the alpha stage of development.
