September 04, 2024 – Meta has recently disclosed the download statistics of its open-source Llama AI model family on Hugging Face. Remarkably, the models were downloaded over 20 million times in August alone, with the global download count surpassing 350 million as of September 1st.

According to reports, Meta released Llama 3 in April this year, followed by Llama 3.1 in July. The updated version extended the context length to 128K, added support for eight new languages, and introduced a popular 405B parameter version. Meta highlighted that the “Llama 3.1-405B” variant is currently the “most preferred by users.”

Regarding partnerships, Meta mentioned that following collaborations with Amazon AWS and Microsoft Azure, they have expanded their partnerships to include platforms like Databricks, Dell, Google Cloud, Groq, NVIDIA, IBM Watsonx, Scale AI, and Snowflake to offer the Llama models. Notably, since the launch of Llama 3.1 in July, the usage of Llama on “major cloud partner platforms” has doubled in terms of tokens.
Meta also stated in their press release that they have increased the number of partners in the early access program for Llama 3.1 and plan to continue expanding this partnership network in the future.
