Arizona Introduces Fully AI-Driven Academic School with ‘AI Teachers’ in Charge

December 23, 2024 – On the 20th of this month, according to a report by TechCrunch, the Arizona State Board for Charter Schools in the United States approved a novel online school named Unbound Academy. This institution stands out due to its unique approach: academic courses are entirely taught by artificial intelligence (AI).

Charter schools in the United States typically enjoy more autonomy compared to traditional public schools, particularly in terms of curriculum design and teaching methodologies. Unbound Academy’s application marks the first attempt to condense coursework into less than two hours using “AI-driven adaptive learning technology.”

The school’s educational model relies on online platforms where students engage in “interactive, intelligent” learning experiences. These platforms dynamically adjust to each student’s learning pace and style. Although the school will have staff members, they may not be certified teachers but rather skilled mentors who oversee students’ progress and offer tailored interventions and guidance.

Academic instruction is limited to just two hours, freeing up time for various “life skills workshops.” These workshops cover critical thinking, creative problem-solving, financial management, public speaking, goal setting, and entrepreneurship. Unbound Academy is designed for students in grades four to eight and operates entirely online.
