Porsche Confirms Support for Apple CarPlay Ultra in Future Models

June 26, 2025 – In an interview with The Financial Times, Porsche’s Chief Designer, Michael Mauer, revealed that the luxury automaker intends to continue offering CarPlay Ultra in its upcoming vehicle models. However, he refrained from providing a specific timeline or additional details regarding the integration.

Apple initially announced CarPlay Ultra back in 2022, and Porsche showcased its design for the system in December 2023. Despite this, there has been no substantial update on their collaboration thus far. Currently, CarPlay Ultra is only available in luxury Aston Martin models within the United States and Canadian markets. According to Apple, numerous global automakers, including Hyundai, Kia, and Genesis, are actively working to incorporate this feature into their vehicles over the next year.

The recently launched CarPlay Ultra, which debuted last month, offers a deep integration with a vehicle’s dashboard and systems. It comes equipped with built-in radio and climate applications, along with various widgets. The interface is tailored to each vehicle model and manufacturer’s branding, allowing drivers to customize color schemes. The connected iPhone supplies application-related data, while the vehicle provides driving data, such as current speed and tire pressure.

Notably, several car manufacturers have indicated that they do not plan to offer CarPlay Ultra. This list includes Mercedes-Benz, Audi, BMW, Volvo, Polestar, and Renault. Earlier this month, a Polestar spokesperson told MacRumors that they were looking forward to bringing the next iteration of CarPlay to their vehicles in the future. However, the report from The Financial Times suggests that Polestar might not proceed with offering the feature after all.
