Tesla Unveils ‘Virtual Queuing’ System for Overseas EVs to Streamline Supercharging

June 27, 2025 – Tesla’s Supercharger stations overseas have long been grappling with overwhelming demand, exacerbated in recent years by the company’s decision to open its charging infrastructure to electric vehicles from other brands. This move, while promoting broader EV adoption, has significantly contributed to congestion at these high-traffic charging hubs.

Despite Tesla’s ongoing efforts to alleviate the strain by constructing new stations in high-demand regions and expanding existing ones, incidents of long queues and queue-jumping persist, leading to various operational challenges and customer dissatisfaction.

In response, Tesla has announced plans to roll out a “virtual queuing” system for its overseas charging network. The innovative system will automatically notify vehicles of their position in the queue, thereby minimizing disputes among drivers over charging priorities.

Max de Zegher, head of Tesla’s North American charging operations, revealed that the feature has been fully developed and is now entering the testing phase. Following rigorous internal evaluations, the company intends to pilot the system at select public stations, aiming to eradicate conflicts arising from queue management at Supercharger stations once and for all.
