July 29, 2025 – On Monday local time, Sony Interactive Entertainment made a significant announcement. Its Project Defiant has been officially named FlexStrike, and this “PlayStation’s first wireless fighting stick” is set to hit the market in 2026.
From August 1st to 3rd, the Sony FlexStrike wireless fighting stick will make its debut at Evo 2025 in Las Vegas, though only for display purposes. Local players can head to the “Fighting Stick Museum” and the Arc System Works booth to catch a glimpse of the real thing.
As revealed during the State of Play event in June 2025, FlexStrike is centered around the concepts of “wireless + professional”. It can be connected to a PS5 or PC via a wired connection and also supports Sony’s ultra-low-latency wireless technology, PlayStation Link.

The core design features of FlexStrike are as follows:
Mechanical buttons and tool-free disassembly: It comes equipped with mechanical switch buttons. Players can replace the square, round, and octagonal stoppers (used to adjust the joystick’s operating range) without the need for tools. These accessories, along with the included PS Link USB adapter, can be stored in the built-in storage compartment of the joystick.
Portable design: A portable crossbody bag is included, allowing players to easily carry the joystick and all its components, such as the USB-C data cable, to offline fighting game tournaments or their friends’ places for intense battles.
Built-in rechargeable battery: There’s no need for additional power supplies, ensuring that players are always ready to jump into the action at any time.
