Sony Closes PlayStation Stars to Newcomers, Program Set for 2026 Sunset

May 22 2025 – Sony Interactive Entertainment (SIE) has announced that as of today, PlayStation Stars will no longer be accepting new registrations. While the company charts a new course for its future loyalty program initiatives, it remains committed to engaging its player community through a series of planned events and activities.

Here’s what players need to know about the upcoming changes:

Players who choose to voluntarily cancel their PlayStation Stars membership will not be permitted to rejoin the program and will forfeit all accumulated points.

Existing PlayStation Stars members will continue to have access to digital collectibles, points, and level progression opportunities until July 23. After this date, no new activities will be introduced, and rewards or level-based privileges will no longer be available.

The current iteration of the PlayStation Stars service will officially conclude on November 2, 2026. Until then, members can still utilize their points as long as they remain valid.

Sony has assured that even after these changes take effect, PlayStation Stars members will retain access to their digital collectibles. The company expresses its gratitude to all players for their support since the program’s launch in September 2022.

Launched in September 2022, PlayStation Stars offered members the opportunity to earn points with every eligible purchase made on the PlayStation Store. These points could be redeemed for PSN wallet funds, used for future purchases on the PS Store, exchanged for exclusive collectibles displayed in the PlayStation app’s showcase, or utilized in various other ways.

The PlayStation Stars service was structured into four tiers, with players’ trophy counts and game purchases determining their account’s service level. Higher tiers came with enhanced benefits and perks.
