Sheikha Mayassa’s Grand Visit to JD Art Museum: Zhang Zetian & Xu Ran in Attendance

March 30, 2026 – A high – profile cultural and art exchange event has recently taken place in China, drawing significant attention from the art industry. Sheikha Mayassa, a prominent figure in the global art world and a core member of the Qatari royal family who also serves as the chairperson of the Qatar Museums Authority and is a top – tier art collector, visited JD Art Museum in China.

During this visit, Zhang Zetian and Xu Ran, the CEO of JD, accompanied Sheikha Mayassa throughout the event. The atmosphere of the on – site communication was solemn yet harmonious.

Judging from the photos released from the scene, Zhang Zetian was dressed in a well – tailored purple Chanel suit, exuding an air of elegance and confidence. On the other hand, Sheikha Mayassa donned a dark vertical – striped overcoat, presenting a composed and refined demeanor.

Sheikha Mayassa has been deeply involved in the art field for many years. She has collaborated with numerous internationally renowned architects and artists. Notably, she invited the Chinese – American architectural master I. M. Pei to create a classic landmark building that combines geometric aesthetics with Islamic charm.

According to public information, JD Art Museum is located in the Shenzhen Bay Super Headquarters Base and is expected to officially open to the public by the end of 2027. Breaking away from the traditional model of antique exhibition halls, the museum positions itself as a cross – border comprehensive art institution. It focuses on the in – depth integration of art and technology, aiming to offer a diverse and immersive art experience.

The museum has a total construction area of over 10,000 square meters. The architectural design is handled by the Bureau of Ole Scheeren, and the interior space is designed by Neri&Hu Design and Research Office. It is equipped with professional performance venues, immersive installation exhibition areas, and creative workshops, among other characteristic functional areas.

Industry insiders believe that this meeting holds great significance. On one hand, it may significantly accelerate the internationalization process of JD Art Museum, helping the venue to establish in – depth cooperation with top – tier global art institutions. On the other hand, it is also regarded as a crucial step for Qatar to further expand its cultural influence in China and across Asia through cultural exchanges.
