March 25, 2025 – During his visit to China, Lee Jae-yong, the Chairman of Samsung Electronics, paid a significant visit to the Shenzhen headquarters of BYD Group, a leading new energy vehicle (NEV) company.
Following his attendance at the China Development Forum’s Annual Conference 2025 on the 23rd and 24th, Lee Jae-yong made his way to BYD’s headquarters in Pingshan District, Shenzhen, in the afternoon of the same day. According to reports, it is expected that Lee met with senior executives, including Wang Chuanfu, Chairman and CEO of BYD, to discuss potential collaborations in automotive electronics components.
This overseas trip marks Lee Jae-yong’s first since being acquitted in the second trial of the improper merger and accounting fraud case on the 3rd of last month. Additionally, this visit to BYD is the second Chinese automaker Lee has engaged with during his current trip.

Earlier during the China Development Forum’s Annual Conference 2025, Lee Jae-yong and Cristiano Amon, President of Qualcomm, visited Xiaomi’s automotive plant. They were received by senior executives, including Lei Jun and Lin Bin, and a group photo was taken to commemorate the meeting.
