December 12, 2025 – Yesterday, Eurogamer, a well – known gaming media outlet, reported that Rockstar Games (R – star) had issued another statement regarding the incident where 34 employees were fired in the UK and Canada last month on the grounds of alleged leaks.
Last month, R – star was accused of suppressing trade unions. At that time, the company claimed that the 34 fired employees had engaged in “serious misconduct”. However, all of these employees were involved in union activities. As a result, the Independent Workers’ Union of Great Britain (IWGB) quickly filed a legal claim against R – star after the incident, stating that all the fired individuals were union members.

Now, R – star has re – emphasized its stance. It said that the dismissal of the employees had nothing to do with the trade union or any union – related activities. These former employees had spread and discussed information about upcoming and unannounced games, as well as studio confidential content, on public forums. This violated the company’s “policies and legal obligations”. The company also stated that claims that the dismissal was related to the union were completely false and misleading.
Previous reports had pointed out that the so – called “leaks” mentioned by R – star did not actually occur on public forums. Instead, they took place on a private Discord server used by employees and union members.
In light of these previous reports, British Prime Minister Keir Starmer recently expressed “deep concern” about R – star’s employee dismissal incident and said that he would further investigate the matter.
