April 2, 2025 – In a groundbreaking announcement tonight, Qualcomm revealed that it is contemplating the possibility of extending an acquisition offer to the British semiconductor firm, Alphawave IP Group.
A statement issued by Qualcomm read, “At this juncture, we cannot ascertain whether a final offer will be forthcoming, nor can we confirm the specific terms involved.” According to regulatory requirements, Qualcomm must declare its definitive intention to proceed with the acquisition or state its decision not to pursue it by 5 PM local time on April 29th.
Reacting to this news, Alphawave’s shares surged by 48% on Tuesday afternoon in London, pushing its market valuation to an impressive £1.05 billion.
