July 31, 2025 – On July 29, Adobe made an exciting announcement in a blog post, inviting Photoshop users to participate in testing a series of cutting-edge AI features. These features include Generative Upscale, Remove, and Harmonize, along with the ability for users to select their preferred Firefly models.
Generative Upscale: Elevating Image Resolution with AI
Generative Upscale is a brand – new AI – powered feature powered by Adobe FireFly. It enables users to enhance the resolution of images through upsampling. Offering three options of 2x, 3x, and 4x, this tool can significantly increase image resolution without sacrificing clarity.
Adobe emphasized that Generative Upscale is particularly well – suited for photographers, designers, and social media professionals. For those dealing with old or low – resolution files, this tool provides a high – quality solution to upgrade image resolution, making the images suitable for printing or digital platforms.
Remove: A More Realistic Image Cleaning Tool
The Remove feature is based on the new Adobe Firefly Image model. It goes beyond the traditional cleaning and erasing functions. Not only can it effectively remove unwanted elements from images, but it also delivers more realistic image results.

Currently, Adobe has made the beta version of this tool available on both desktop and web platforms. Users can use it to clean up background figures and other removed elements with higher quality, leaving fewer “traces” in the image.
Harmonize: Creating Seamless Composite Images
Adobe also introduced the Harmonize feature, which first made its debut at the Max conference in October 2024 under the name Project Perfect Blend.
By leveraging the Adobe Firefly Image Model, Harmonize can intelligently analyze the surrounding environment. It then automatically adjusts colors, lighting, shadows, and visual tones to create composite images that are seamless and well – coordinated.
Model Switching and New Project Management
In addition to these new features, users now have access to the Gen AI Model Picker, which allows them to switch between different Firefly Image Models. Moreover, Photoshop has launched a beta feature called Projects. This feature provides a unified way to save all files and enables users to send an entire collection of files at once, streamlining the workflow for users.
