January 14, 2026 – On January 13 local time, the U.S. government gave the green light for Nvidia to export its H200 artificial intelligence chips to China. This move is expected to resume the shipment of H200 chips to Chinese customers.
Earlier, former U.S. President Trump announced via social media that the U.S. administration would permit Nvidia to sell its H200 AI chips to China. It is reported that the U.S. Department of Commerce will be in charge of the approval and security review processes for these sales to China. Additionally, the U.S. side will collect a fee of around 25% from the relevant transactions.

In December of the previous year, a Nvidia spokesperson told the Global Times, “We are continuously managing our supply chain. Authorizing compliant sales of H200 chips to Chinese customers will not impact our ability to supply chips to customers worldwide.”
According to Tencent Technology, sources familiar with the matter revealed that the unit price of Nvidia’s 8 – card module of H200 chips for channels is 1.4 million yuan, which is slightly more expensive than that of the H20. Based on the Total Processing Performance (TPP), the computing power of the new – generation “special – supply” product H200 is 15,832, approximately 6.7 times that of the H20.
Sources also said that Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang is scheduled to visit China this month (January 2026). It is worth noting that Huang has made three visits to the Chinese mainland in 2025. In recent years, he has attended annual parties in Beijing, Shanghai, and Shenzhen during the Spring Festival and distributed red envelopes to employees. In the Spring Festival of 2024, Huang’s dance in a Northeast – style floral vest became a well – known scene.
