May 27 2025 – Nikon has recently issued a statement announcing that it will implement a “necessary price adjustment” starting from June 23, 2025, due to the U.S. government’s tariff increase policy. While the company has not yet disclosed the specific models or the extent of the price hikes, popular releases such as the Z5Ⅱ might be included in the adjustment.
In the statement, Nikon emphasized its commitment to delivering top-tier imaging products and services. Given the recent tariff policy changes, the company will adjust prices as necessary starting from the mentioned date. Nikon will continue to monitor tariff policy developments and adjust its pricing strategies accordingly, based on market conditions. The company expressed gratitude for consumers’ understanding and stated that it is taking all possible measures to mitigate the impact.

According to a report by PetaPixel, Nikon’s financial report in early May indicated that the tariff policy could lead to a reduction of 10 billion yen in profits for the fiscal year 2025. Currently, the price adjustment is limited to the U.S. market, but the company warned that if the tariff policy triggers a global economic downturn, it might expand the scope of the price adjustment to other regions.
Prior to Nikon’s announcement, Blackmagic Design in Australia raised the prices of its digital cinema cameras last month and also halted plans to build a factory in Dallas, Texas. Canon, during its earnings call in April, confirmed to analysts that it was assessing the timing and magnitude of potential price adjustments. Sigma also announced a similar price adjustment plan, effective from June 2, 2025. Fujifilm confirmed to DPReview in April that it had suspended pre-orders for models like the X-M5 and X100VI in the U.S. market. Sony and Leica are among the other brands that have recently implemented price adjustments.
