November 28, 2025 – LG Electronics today unveiled a series of organizational changes set to take effect in 2026, with Lyu Jae-cheol, the former head of its home appliances division, being appointed as the new CEO starting December 1 this year. He will succeed Cho Joo-wan, who has held the position for the past four years.
During his tenure as the head of the home appliances division, Lyu Jae-cheol significantly diversified the company’s business portfolio. He expanded three key business models: B2B commercial sales, subscription-based services, and direct-to-consumer (D2C) sales. Additionally, he strengthened the leadership position of flagship products and laid a solid foundation for sustainable growth through continuous research and development efforts.
LG Electronics will retain its existing structure of four major subsidiaries: HS Home Appliance Solutions, VS Vehicle Solutions, ES Environmental Solutions, and MS Media & Entertainment Solutions. However, several strategic adjustments are being made within these divisions:
The HS division will establish a dedicated B2B overseas sales department and set up a robotics laboratory to explore new growth areas.
In the MS division, television and IT operations will be merged into a single display business unit, accompanied by the creation of a display product development team to drive innovation in this sector.
The ES division is introducing a new application business unit focused on HVAC systems for data centers and nuclear power plants. It will also form an ES M&A department and an ES overseas sales department to enhance its global reach and strategic capabilities.
Under the Chief Technology Office, two new research laboratories will be established: the HS Advanced Research Lab and the Next-Generation Computing Lab, aiming to spearhead technological advancements.
Lastly, the existing DX Center and Business Process Innovation Department will be consolidated into a newly formed AX Center to streamline operations and improve efficiency.
These organizational changes reflect LG Electronics’ commitment to innovation, sustainability, and global expansion as it prepares for the challenges and opportunities of the future.
