June 17, 2025 – Over the past week, iOS 26 has grabbed the attention of iPhone users worldwide. However, there’s another update on the horizon for iOS 18, as per a recent leak from an insider on X platform, which was reported by MacRumors today.
The source revealed that the first beta version of iOS 18.6 is expected to roll out shortly. MacRumors’ analysis indicates that Apple’s software engineers have been putting iOS 18.6 through its paces internally since March. As the testing phase has progressed, the website’s visitor logs have started showing thousands of page views from iPhones running the iOS 18.6 Beta.
It’s suggested that iOS 18.6 might be a minor update, primarily focused on bug fixes and security enhancements. Nevertheless, there’s a possibility that it could also introduce a few small, new features.
So far, there’s no evidence to suggest that an iOS 18.5.1 update is in the works. This has led to speculation that Apple might skip straight to iOS 18.6. Following the beta testing period, the official release of iOS 18.6 is anticipated to arrive in July. Before September, Apple could potentially push out an iOS 18.7 update, adding further security patches, before fully transitioning to the iOS 26 development cycle.
