March 23, 2025 – Apple is still reportedly toying with the idea of integrating mini cameras into its future AirPods, according to Bloomberg journalist Mark Gurman.
In his recent coverage about Mike Rockwell, the new head of Siri development at Apple, Gurman once again brought up this possibility. The report states that with Rockwell’s extensive experience in hardware, Apple could further integrate artificial intelligence into its devices. The company is exploring the concept of AirPods with outward-facing cameras, which could feed data into AI systems.
Technically speaking, these cameras would actually be infrared sensors.
