July 31, 2025 – According to media sources, Tesla’s Optimus robot has entered the production phase. However, the version that will eventually be delivered to consumers is expected to be vastly different from the current iteration, featuring a design that has never been seen before. Elon Musk subtly hinted at this during Tesla’s recent second – quarter earnings call.
Over the years, Tesla has been consistently showcasing the iterative upgrades of the Optimus robot, finally launching the V2 version that is currently under production. Back in the company – wide meeting in the first quarter of 2025, Musk told employees that Tesla would strive to produce the first batch of Optimus robots within the year.

Previously, there was a widespread expectation in the market that Tesla would mass – produce and continuously improve the Optimus V2, which is known for its agile movements and relatively mature design.
Nevertheless, during the second – quarter earnings call, Musk set the record straight. He clarified that when Optimus enters large – scale mass production, it will adopt a brand – new V3 design. This implies that the appearance and structure of the first batch of Optimus robots delivered to consumers will be significantly different from the V2 version that has been on display since 2023.
It is reported that Musk is highly optimistic about the future of Optimus V3. He reiterated his previous view that Optimus has the potential to become Tesla’s most important product in the future.
Musk is brimming with confidence in the V3 design. He pointed out that this version has “found the right path” and that although there is still room for optimization in the future, no fundamental changes will be required. “The Optimus V3 design incorporates all the degrees of freedom required for a humanoid robot,” Musk emphasized, also praising it as “rather exquisite”.
